Justin Timberlake to Perform at Apollo in the Hamptons 2017
Apollo in the Hamptons, the annual fundraiser for Harlem’s Apollo Theater, has always attracted huge talent, from Christina Aguilera to Hamptonite Jennifer Lopez. According to Page Six, Justin Timberlake, Mavis Staples and Gary Clark Jr. are slated to perform at the eighth annual concert, to be held on August 12. Jamie Foxx, the Roots and Pharrell Williams are reportedly attending the event (no word on if any of them will be performing).
Timberlake is known for hits like “SexyBack,” “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” “Mirrors” and “Cry Me A River.” Staples is an iconic rhythm and blues singer known for songs like “Time Waits for No One,” “The Voice,” “Blood is Thicker Than Time” and more, while Clark is best known for “Church,” “Down To Ride,” “Please Come Home,” “Things Are Changin” and “Bright Lights.”
The Apollo Theater originally opened its doors in 1914 and has played a major role in showcasing jazz, swing, R&B, gospel and blues talent. It operates under the supervision of the Apollo Theater Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that aims to preserve and honor its storied legacy. The Apollo in the Hamptons fundraiser has raised millions of dollars for the Harlem venue and is held at Ron Perelman’s home, the Creeks, in East Hampton.
