'Spielberg' Documentary to Air on HBO
East Ender Steven Spielberg will be the subject of a new documentary this fall on HBO. Directed by Susan Lacy, Spielberg is “an intimate portrait of the iconic film director” that will follow the director’s illustrious career.
Rolling Stone reports that Spielberg will incorporate clips of the storied director’s films, behind-the-scenes footage, and interviews with more than 80 people, including J.J. Abrams, Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas and Martin Scorsese. Actors who will appear in the documentary include Hamptons regular Leonardo DiCaprio, Harrison Ford, Daniel Day-Lewis and Tom Hanks, along with others. Lacy filmed 30 hours of interviews with Spielberg, as well.
Spielberg, of course, is considered one of the greatest directors of our time. Known for films like E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Bridge of Spies, Lincoln, Catch Me If You Can, Jaws and more, Spielberg is currently working on The Papers, starring Hanks and Meryl Streep, which focuses on the Pentagon Papers scandal. His upcoming adaptation of Ernest Cline’s science fiction novel Ready Player One will be released on March 30, 2018. Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg and T.J. Miller.
Spielberg premieres on October 7 on HBO, HBO Now, HBO Go and HBO on Demand.
