Watch this amazing drone footage of humpback whales feeding on massive menhaden pods near Long Beach, right here off Long Island. Freelance videographer and licensed drone pilot Tim Del Grosso (timothy.delgrosso@gmail.com) filmed this sensational video over two weeks in the waters of the NY Bite observing menhaden and whale behavior, according to Fire Island and Beyond (fireislandandbeyond.com), which published it on Monday, October 23.

Thanks to conservation efforts, menhaden, also known as bunker, have been coming back strong. And with the fish’s return, come many other marine animals above it on the food chain, including humpback whales.
