Snow Way, Man
The third time proved to be a charm, for some at least.
The area’s third nor’easter created near blizzard conditions, dumping snow hard and fast from Eastport to Hampton Bays, leaving roadways a slushy mess.
Water ran high along the creeks of Westhampton Beach, and Dune Road from Quogue to Shinnecock Inlet was strewn with dangling electrical wires. A particularly gnarly downed pole blocked the roadway just east of Dolphin Lane in East Quogue.
Unlike in areas further east, the snow stopped abruptly at about 2 PM. However, the storm managed to whip up some waves, drawing at least a dozen local surfers out of their wintery lairs and into the water. Clearly, they got the storm warning memo.
