Designer Carmen Marc Valvo Shears His Price in Bridgehampton
As the home of a fashion designer, this property was always going to be gorgeous inside and out. But we think this house on Mecox Bay, owned by fashion designer Carmen Marc Valvo (best known for bridal and evening wear), may be a bit too individual for most people. The house, simple and pale on the inside (with what must be more house plants than we’ve seen in a long, long while) is oriented to the bay views. Most rooms in the 4500 square foot house, repped by Beate Moore at Sotheby’s, seem oriented to the bay view with large windows and French doors.
When Valvo listed his property last September, the ask was $8.25 million, which we thought was a bit ambitious. The price has now been cut several times, with a new ask of $6.95 million.
As you can guess from all those houseplants, the one acre of land around the property is filled with pretty gardens, which includes a koi pond and a fountain. Next to the gunite pool is a very pretty pergola as a dining area along with a built-in BBQ. There’s also a pool house with wine cellar attached to the house via what the listing calls a glass breezeway but we’re calling a conservatory. There’s a dock on the bay and a detached garage with bonus room with full bath.
Will the latest price cut do the trick? (We’d also like to suggest someone thin out all those house plants. We like house plants, but it’s getting a bit Day of the Triffids in there.)
