2019 Riverhead Town Beach Guide
Riverhead Town has four beaches located on the calm waters of either the Peconic Bay or the Long Island Sound. Resident permits are $15, $5 for seniors, for the season, and non-residents may purchase a day pass for $35 or a season pass for $200. Permits are required from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and they are available at the Shade Tree Center (60 Shade Tree Lane, Riverhead) or at all town beaches from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Jamesport:
Iron Pier Beach
Location: Bay beach, 500 Pier Avenue
Parking: Riverhead Town permit required
Amenities: Lifeguard (10 a.m.–5 p.m.), restroom, concessions, playground, beach wheelchairs, picnic table
Restrictions During Open Hours (6 a.m.–10 p.m.): No fishing, no beach driving
Restrictions at All Times: No dogs
Inside scoop: Beach driving is allowed with a permit.
South Jamesport Beach
Location: Bay beach, End of Pye Lane
Parking: Riverhead Town permit required
Amenities: Lifeguard (10 a.m.–5 p.m.), restroom, concessions, picnic table, playground, basketball court, tennis court, beach wheelchairs
Restrictions During Open Hours (6 a.m.–10 p.m.): No fishing, no beach driving
Restrictions at All Times: No dogs
Inside scoop: 3,000 feet on Peconic Bay, featuring shallow waters for small children, handicap access and a snack shack.
Riverhead Hamlet:
Reeve’s Beach
Location: Bay beach, End of Park Road
Parking: Riverhead Town permit required
Amenities: Restroom
Restrictions During Open Hours (6 a.m.–10 p.m.): No fishing, no beach driving
Restrictions at All Times: No dogs
Inside scoop: The 2.2-mile beach is a great spot for walking and birding
Wading River:
Wading River Beach
Location: Bay beach, 230 Creek Road
Parking: Riverhead Town permit required
Amenities: Restroom, playground, boat ramp
Restrictions During Open Hours (6 a.m.–10 p.m.): No fishing, no beach driving
Restrictions at All Times: No dogs
