2019 Southampton Town Beach Guide
Southampton Town boasts lifeguarded beaches, most of which have bathrooms and food options, and Trustee and Town Access Roads to the beach. Residents may purchase parking passes for $40 per vehicle, and non-residents can pay a full season fee of $375 per vehicle. Non-resident daily permits may be purchased at select beaches for $25.
In order to obtain a permit, residents must present a current tax bill and a valid vehicle registration with a Southampton Town address. Renters must show three different utility bills: one current, one 6 months old and one 12 months old. Senior residents only pay $25. Firefighters, EMS and active-duty military are free. Town Beach Permits are for the taxpayer’s vehicles only, not for their visitors. For seasonal renters and visitors, only a valid car registration must be presented.
Town permits are required from Memorial Day weekend trhough the end of June at Pikes, Ponquogue, Tiana, Foster Memorial, Flying Point and Sagg Main beaches on weekends from 9 a.m.–9 p.m. After 9 p.m. a facility use permit issued by the Parks & Recreation Department is required to park at any area. This permit must be applied for in advance and by application of resident seeking permit. From July through Labor Day, all Town beaches will be opened seven days a week, and permits will be required at all times. At trustee access roads, permits are required from July through Labor Day at all times.
Permits are available from May through the end of June at the Southampton Town Hall (116 Hampton Road, Southampton) Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., as well as the Parks and Recreation Office (6 Newton Road, Hampton Bays) Monday–Friday from 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m. From Memorial Day Weekend–Father’s Day weekend, permits may be purchased at Ponquogue, Tiana, Flying Point, Sagg Main, Foster Memorial and Pikes beaches from 9:30 a.m. –4:30 p.m.
Beach driving permits available to Southampton Town residents only. Driving allowed between 6 p.m. –9 a.m. with a $20 4×4 permit. Contained fires can only be started after obtaining a Parks and Recreation Facility Use Permit. They must be started with small charcoal or wood and kept in a metal container or BBQ grill, not directly on the sand.
