Indy Relaunch
The Independent Newspaper held an Indy 2.0 relaunch event at Le Bilboquet in Sag Harbor last Friday evening. Guests of The Independent were invited to a cocktail party to celebrate and to learn more about our new and improved publication.
This is an exciting time for us at The Independent. Under new ownership, we are investing in high quality reporters, editors, and staff. We’ve also launched our new website and social platforms, and significantly expanded our circulation this summer.
Community members who represented local real estate, business, dining, non-profits, and more attended the event. The picturesque waterfront setting provided an ideal backdrop to celebrate the start of the busy season on the East End.
At The Independent, we continue to build on our great East End media company, attracting the highest level of talent. We are proud to announce the following additions to our stellar editorial team.
Joining us in several weeks, and replacing recently retired editor Kitty Merrill, will be veteran journalist and editor Stephen J. Kotz. Kotz has a nearly 30-year career on the East End, working as a reporter for The East Hampton Star, editor of The East Hampton Press, and most recently, the managing editor/news editor of The Sag Harbor Express.
Also joining us next week will be reporter T.E. McMorrow, who has left the East Hampton Star newsroom to bring his talents to The Independent. McMorrow has been the police and court reporter of note for many years and we welcome his contributions to shine brighter under our banner.
We are especially proud to announce that Bridget LeRoy is back writing weekly features for us.
The Independent exists to celebrate everything East End by both covering local news and events, as well as featuring the vibrant local arts, culture, dining, social scene, and real estate in the community.
The Independent brings together the latest in-depth local news and community updates with bold features and dedicated sections on the unique luxury of the Hamptons and the communities across the North and South Fork, making it the go-to weekly read for year-round and summer residents alike who want to stay on top of Everything East End.
We’ll have more announcements in the days and weeks ahead, and we’re excited about the future.
