Ladies Who Lunch For A Cure
The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation will host its annual “Ladies Who Lunch for a Cure” on Tuesday, May 15, at 12:30 PM, hosted by Susan Gutfreund. This year, the event will feature fashion icon and event honoree, designer Jason Wu, with a fashion show at 1:30 PM.
Lauren Lawrence is in her third year as Chair of this event, having hosted consecutive successes.
Founded in 1976, the SWCRF has been pioneering the way in cancer research by awarding nearly $100 million to more than 200 researchers worldwide. Founder and CEO, Dr. Samuel Waxman, has been a valued faculty member of Mount Sinai Hospital for more than 30 years.
“Susan Gutfreund became involved the moment I asked her to host this year’s luncheon as a favor, and I am so pleased that she graciously accepted by request,” Lawrence said. The team at Jason Wu proved equally as enthusiastic for the cause.
“Last year I brought in Carolina Herrara, and the year before, Oscar de la Renta. It pays to have good friends! It has been my pleasure to broaden the scope and awareness of this foundation,” she added.
The inaugural event was held at the home of Dena Weiner, Vice President of the Board of the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, and David Rozenholc in a historic brownstone located on East 84 Street. Following the premier event, the next three were hosted by Andrea Stark at her duplex apartment.
“We are fortunate to have had extraordinary venues due to the generosity of Dena Weiner, Andrea Stark, and [now] Susan Gutfreund for opening their homes. Palm Bay International Wine & Spirits and CxRA have been amazing donors since the event launched,” added Marion Waxman, Co-Founder of the foundation. “All of these elements lead us into creating this major, exciting event, ‘The Hamptons Happening’ on July 14. SWCRF has a wonderful team who are all working to cure cancer.”
The home is located at 834 Fifth Avenue, New York. Lunch will be catered by CxRA with wine by Palm Bay. Tickets are $350, with $50 raffles. RSVP to Erica Linden-Fineberg at 212-686-7820 or purchase tickets online at www.waxmancancer.org/events/luncheon.
