Rescue
East End Arts in Riverhead presents the juried show “Rescue: People, Pets, Predicaments,” in partnership with the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation. The show will open on Friday, June 15, with an opening reception from 5 to 7 PM. The show runs through July 25.

ESCAPES
The William Ris Gallery in Jamesport will celebrate its second anniversary on the North Fork with a group show of landscape and seascape art called “Escapes,” from June 16 to July 8. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 16, from 4 to 7 PM. Included will be the works of prominent East Coast artists: Kelly Franké, Kurt Giehl, David Peikon, Jim Sabiston, Eileen Dawn Skretch, James Stewart, and Amy Worth.

I AM
The White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton presents “I AM,” performance art with live painting and wine pairing inspired by convictions of pop art. Light of the Hamptons
Janet Lehr Fine Arts in East Hampton presents artists David Demers and Haim Mizrahi in the two man exhibition “Light of the Hamptons.” The show will open on Saturday, June 16, with a reception from 8 to 10 PM. The show runs through July 5.

Group Show
Romany Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor presents a group art show featuring the works of Isabel Pavão, Herbert August, and Bob Rothstein. The exhibition will be on view from June 14 through July 5, with a reception for the artists on Saturday, June 16, from 5 to 6:30 PM.

Old & New
“Old & New,” on display at Ashawagh Hall in Springs from Friday through June 24, explores the organic growth that occurs in an artist’s work over time. Mark Perry, embarking on his first curatorial endeavor, has invited a select group of artists to share the hall. The focus of the show will be Perry’s work, with fellow artists represented by two or more works each.
The artists include Roy Nicholson, Anne Raymond, Don Christensen, Rosario Varela, Gus Yero, George Singer, Sydney Albertini, Scott Bluedorn, Denise Gale, James Kennedy, Bob Bachler, and

John Haubrich
The show will also feature works by Tim Lee and Robert Loughlin, represented posthumously, from Perry’s personal collection. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 16, from 5 to 8 PM. A closing reception will be held on Saturday, June 23, from 5 to 8 PM.

Niki Lederer
Quogue Library presents outdoor sculpture artist Niki Lederer, on display through June. Her sculptural practice combines east and west coast sensibilities, with formal and conceptual approaches to art making. Lederer explores a love/hate relationship with consumer culture, most recently manifested in her found object sculptures created from repurposed consumer plastic.

Laurie Anderson
Guild Hall in East Hampton presents the artwork of avant-garde artist, composer, musician, and film director Laurie Anderson. The show will run through July 22. To reserve a 15-minute virtual reality slot for either Aloft or Chalkroom, visit the Guild Hall website, http://www.guildhall.org.

ONGOING EXHIBITS

All That Glitters
Keyes Art in East Hampton presents “All That Glitters,” featuring Bhutanese artists, along with Amy Zerner and Bill Claps, in the new, Asian-themed show. The exhibit will run through June 30. It is one of the first group exhibitions of Bhutanese contemporary art in the United States, with 25 paintings by artists Asha Kama, Pema “Tintin” Tshering, Phurba Namgay, and Gyempo Wangchuk.

Aerial Observations
Alex Ferrone’s “Aerial Observations” is the June exhibit at the Quogue Library Art Gallery. A photographer with varying artistic influences, Ferrone has developed a unique body of work through aerial photography. The show will run through June 27.

Cile Downs
The Arts Center at Duck Creek in East Hampton presents “Cile Downs: Accabonac Abstractions.” Artist Cile Downs has been living and painting just a few miles from Duck Creek since 1954. The show runs through June 24.

Hat Museum
The Prosper King House & Lyzon Hat Museum in Hampton Bays is open for the season. The Lyzon Hat Shop Museum and Prosper King House will be open each Saturday from now till mid-September, 11 AM to 2 PM.

Under The Covers
Tripoli Gallery in Southampton presents “Under The Covers,” its third solo exhibition with Judith Hudson. Hudson’s new paintings will be on view through June 18.

Halsey McKay Gallery
The Halsey McKay Gallery in East Hampton is showing two exhibits. The first is “Converter,” featuring artwork by Jedediah Caesar, Graham Collins, Rosy Keyser, Elias Hansen, Sam Moyer, Augustus Nazzaro, and Jessica Vaughn. These artists incorporate specific quotidian objects from outside the studio as catalysts for extrapolation and innovation.

Upstairs at the gallery is Ryan Steadman’s “Necromancer.” In his first solo exhibition with Halsey McKay, Steadman presents a wall installation of abstractions based on books, including a new series of stack works. The shows run through June 24.

Promised Land
The Barge Gallery at The Victor D’Amico Institute of Art in Amagansett hosts “Promised Land Remembered.” Co-organized with Rachel Gruzen, this exhibition reflects on the Menhaden fishing industry and the significance of promised land, featuring a selection of works on paper by Mabel D’Amico dating from the 1940s to the 1960s, photographs, documents, and collected stories. The show runs through June 23.

Teapots
An exhibit featuring teapots of the 19th Century from the Suffolk County Historical Society Museum’s permanent collection are on display in “A Moment of Tranquili–Tea.” The SCHS, located in Riverhead, has more than 100 teapots and presents the finest examples in this exhibit. The show runs through July 28.

Hunting the Whale
“Hunting the Whale: The Rise and Fall of a Southampton Industry” is on display at Rogers Mansion in Southampton. This interactive and inclusive exhibit adds new documents and artifacts, illuminating Southampton Village’s prominent role in the whaling industry at its mid-19th Century height. The exhibit runs through August 4.

Word On The Street
The Watermill Center presents “Word On The Street,” a text-based public art initiative by House of Trees. The show consists of poetic and political banners created by international female artists and writers, in collaboration with Texas based female refugee fabricators.

The lineup of artists and writers includes Carrie Mae Weems, Tania Bruguera, Anne Carson, Amy Khoshbin, Laurie Anderson, A.M. Homes, Wangechi Mutu, Jenny Holzer, House of Trees, and Naomi Shihab Nye. Image Building
The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill presents “Image Building: How Photography Transforms Architecture,” organized by guest curator Therese Lichtenstein. The show is a comprehensive survey that explores the dynamic relationship between architecture, photography, and the viewer.

Seen through the lens of historical and architectural photographers from the 1930s to the present, “Image Building” offers a nuanced perspective on how photographs affect our understanding of the built environment and our social and personal identities.

The show is on view through June 17. The exhibition features 57 images that explore the social, psychological, and conceptual implications of architecture through the subjective interpretation of the photographer.

Five And Forward
“Five and Forward” is an exhibition that celebrates the Parrish Art Museum’s fifth anniversary in its Herzog and de Meuron-designed building in Water Mill. On view through October 31, the exhibition takes a closer look at artists whose work represents major trends, themes, and concepts in American art history, and underscores the ongoing artistic legacy of Long Island’s East End.
