Soldier Ride 2018 On July 21
Soldier Ride of the Hamptons returns this Saturday, July 21, with two events in Amagansett and Sag Harbor. A bicycle ride will start from the Amagansett Farm, with registration opening at 7 AM and an opening ceremony at 8:30 AM before the ride itself begins at 9 AM. A 5K walk will be held in Sag Harbor, with registration at 9 AM in Marine Park and the walk and a Lap of Heroes taking place at 11 AM.
The Soldier Ride foundation, which is part of the Wounded Warrior Project, promotes therapeutic treatments for veterans who have been wounded in service to the country. Many of the participating veterans have sustained physical injuries, but there are many who have been afflicted with post-traumatic stress disorder and depression.
When asked how the Wounded Warrior Project has impacted him, David Camacho stated, on the Soldier Ride website, “Soldier Ride is one of the best programs I have ever done with Wounded Warrior Project.”
“It was a challenge for me the first time, but I made it,” he said. “I have discovered the cure for my depression, PTSD, and other health issues. Cycling helps me relax and see personal issues in a different way. Now I’m very active, participating in monthly cycling events with other veterans and civilians. Thanks to Wounded Warrior Project and the Soldier Ride program, I’m a new person.”
