Springs Man Dies In Crash

A Springs resident, Christian Bermeo, 28, was killed early Sunday evening after the 2013 Yamaha motorcycle he was riding south on Springs-Fireplace Road collided with a northbound car making a left turn onto Cedar Ridge Drive.

After striking the 2018 Honda driven by Susan Israelson, 79, of East Hampton, Bermeo was catapulted off the Yamaha and into another northbound car, a 2014 Nissan. Bermeo was taken by Springs Fire Department ambulance to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Another Springs ambulance took Israelson to the hospital, as well, to be evaluated as a precaution.

The driver of the Nissan was not injured. No citations were issued, according to East Hampton Town Police Captain Chris Anderson. Police are still investigating the incident, and can be reached by anyone with information at 631-537-7575.
