Summer Of Spielberg At Southampton Arts
It’s being called “Summer of Spielberg.” Friday, July 6, will begin a series of outdoor screenings of films written or directed by one of the most popular film mavens of all time, Steven Spielberg, on the lawn of the Southampton Arts Center.
SAC and the Hamptons International Film Festival have partnered for the fifth year in a row to offer this program.
“SAC board member Elyn Kronemeyer and I had both seen the 2017 Spielberg documentary by Susan Lacy and collectively came up with the idea to focus solely on Steven’s films, recalling that previous screenings of his classics in summers past have always been audience favorites,” said SAC Director Amy Kirwin. “We believe it is the perfect way to commemorate our fifth consecutive summer of outdoor film programming.”
The films, which include Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom, Poltergeist, and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, will be shown for free every Friday night. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and picnics.
Live music will take place before each screening starting at 7:30 PM, followed by film-related trivia with fun prizes.
The series begins Friday with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Films start at sunset, at approximately 8:45 PM. The series, which continues until August 31, concludes with the annual screening of JAWS.
