Woman Drowns In Wainscott Sunday

East Hampton Town police on Monday afternoon identified Elizabeth A. Hummer, 58, of Wainscott as the victim who apparently drowned at the ocean beach in that hamlet on Sunday afternoon.

Police said Hummer’s body was pulled out of the Atlantic by another beachgoer just west of Beach Lane at about 2:30 PM. Police said emergency medical responders were unable to revive her. Police said they were waiting for the official cause of death to be determined by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office but added that they had preliminarily ruled out “suspicious circumstances.”
