The East Hampton Town Chiefs Association hosted a memorial on the Green at Hook Mill in East Hampton Village on September 11. East Hampton Village Mayor Paul Rickenbach, with representatives from the East Hampton Village Board and the East Hampton Town Board, attended to honor those who perished in the attacks on 9/11. Chiefs Association President (and East Hampton Fire Department Chief) Gerry Turza made the first remarks. The Very Reverend Denis Brunelle of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church gave the blessings. Police and firefighters from Bridgehampton to Montauk placed wreaths in formation. Village Code Enforcement’s Kenneth Collum set the mood with his solo bagpipe playing.
