Art In The Park

“Art in the Park” illuminated the Peconic River at Riverhead’s Grangebel Park for the second time this year on Saturday, September 15.

The effort explores the concept of “creative placemaking,” an evolving field of practice that intentionally leverages the power of the arts, culture, and creativity to serve a community’s interest while driving a broader agenda for change, growth, and transformation in a way that also builds character and quality of place.

The event utilizes light art installation of immersive reflective art and sculpture in a walkable gallery through various forms of light art — sculptures and paintings incorporating LED lights, lasers, reflective materials, luminescence, and fire.

“It was such a great night. We had over 2000 people show up for it and several new installations, including a gorgeous mermaid,” said Bob Kern of the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce.

This Art in the Park event is made possible by sponsorship of PSEG, Tanger Outlets, Triple Five Real Estate, The Timothy Hill Ranch, Bridgehampton National Bank, Peconic Bay Medical, Conifer Real Estate, The Riverhead Business Improvement District, the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce, East End Arts, and a grant from East End Tourism Alliance.
