East Hampton Polar Bear Plunge

On what felt like a spring morning, hundreds of plungers dove into the chilly Atlantic Ocean at Main Beach in East Hampton on New Year’s Day. While the air was warm, the water temperature was a frigid 43 degrees. That didn’t stop participants from charging the waves to support local charities. The Polar Bear Plunge has been supporting local food pantries and other charities since it was founded.
