Beyoncé & Jay-Z Host Massive Pre-Grammy Brunch, Then Skip Grammys
Beyoncé and Jay-Z don’t have to be anywhere. The East Hampton couple decided not attend the 61st Annual Grammy Awards on February 10 after throwing a luxurious pre-Grammy brunch the day before, but that didn’t stop them from taking home the Grammy for best urban contemporary album.
The Carters’ surprise album, Everything is Love, earned Beyoncé her 23rd Grammy and Jay-Z his 22nd, beating out urban contemporary nominees Chris Dave and The Drumhedz, Chloe x Halle, Meshell Ndegeocello and Miguel. However, since they weren’t performing this year, there was no real obligation to attend. It’s possible the music icons were all partied out from the days before. On February 8, they attended Michael B. Jordan’s 32nd birthday, where, according to Entertainment Tonight, the actor used the opportunity to show off his DJ skills.
On February 9, the Carters hosted Roc Nation’s annual pre-Grammy brunch, which attracted many stars including a few East Enders—Sag Harbor’s Ellen Pompeo and East Hampton’s Sean “Diddy” Combs. According to People, Pompeo has been a longtime fan of Jay-Z and has always admired him for his business prowess.
Diddy also reveled in the company of fellow hip-hop star, posting an Instagram video on February 9 of the two posing for photos captioned, “It’s bigger than being billionaires, it’s about owning our culture and leading the revolution.” Diddy also posted a group photo of the many men of influence in attendance, including Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, Terrence J, Kevin Hart, Usher and Casanova laughing captioned, “Black Excellence.”
Never one to shy away from social media, Beyoncé took to Instagram to give fans a taste of the Carters’ flare for hosting. On February 10, she posted an Instagram video montage of her and her husband drinking, laughing and enjoying the fellowship of their fellow stars.

Beyoncé also posted a slideshow of her and her man standing side by side and kissing in their coordinated ready-for-spring pastels and sunglasses. After a throwing a party this massive, the Grammy Awards must’ve seemed like no big deal to these megastars.
