Divine Intervention

The group exhibition, “Divine Intervention,” at Christ Episcopal Church in Sag Harbor will have an opening reception Saturday, June 1, from 5 to 7 PM. Curated by Teri Hackett, the show will run throughout the summer, from June 1 to September 2. Artists from New York and the East End will exhibit works.

Ezra Gallery

Ezra Gallery of the Hamptons located at Center for Jewish Life in Sag Harbor presents the landscape show, “For Love of Nature.” The show opens on Sunday, June 2, with a reception from 4 to 6:30 PM. Artists include Bertram Alper, Shain Bard, Sally Breen, Miriam Dougenis, Kimberly Goff, Edward Joseph, Bruce Lieberman, and Eileen Dawn Skretch. The exhibit is curated by Kimberly Goff.

The show runs through July 8.

Gallery Talk

Jeremy Dennis, a Parrish Art Museum collection artist and 2018 Parrish Road Show artist, will give a special gallery talk on the exhibition “Thomas Joshua Cooper: Refuge at the Museum” on Friday, May 31, at 6 PM. Dennis, a member of the Shinnecock Nation, will reflect on Cooper’s photographs, which capture East End history, migration, and settlement at sites ranging from Conscience Point to Shinnecock Reservation locales.

Water Mill Museum

The Water Mill Museum presents the “Water Mill Museum’s & Members’ Art Show” with an opening reception on Saturday, June 1, from 5 to 7 PM.

East End Photographers

The East End Photographers Group 31st Anniversary Exhibition will be held at Ashawagh Hall in Springs with an opening reception on Saturday, June 1, from 5 to 9 PM. There will be music by Out East. Visit www.eastendphotogroup.org.

Small

Ille Arts in Amagansett presents “Small,” a group show featuring Christine Ganeaux, Claire Libin, and Alicia Rothman. The name of the show hints at the intimate size of the works. All three artists are very comfortable remaining within the constraints of a small canvas, though the approaches and subjects are widely different. The show will run until June 17.

Dream Of Roses

The William Ris Gallery in Jamesport presents “Space & Color,” the artwork of Karl Szekielda. The show runs through June 16.

All That Glitters

Keyes Art in Sag Harbor presents “All That Glitters,” with work by Duncan Chamberlain, Bill Claps, and Peter Reginato. The exhibition will run through June 14.

Go Figure!

Eric Firestone Gallery in East Hampton hosts the exhibition, “Go Figure!” Beth Rudin DeWoody is curator. The group exhibit is about an ongoing dialogue between contemporary figurative artists and figuration of the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s. The show runs through June 22.

All The Pieces

The White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton is showing “All the Pieces.” The show runs through June 16.

Memorial Day Show

The Southampton Artists Association Memorial Day Show will be held at The Levitas Center For The Arts, located at The Southampton Cultural Center. A closing reception will be held on Friday, May 31, from 5 to 7 PM. The show runs through Sunday, June 2.

Halcyon Days

Roman Fine Art in East Hampton presents “Halcyon Days,” a solo exhibition of new works by Polaroid photographer Alex Moore. Moore’s first solo exhibition at Roman Fine Art will feature new figurative and landscape works from his most recent travels. The exhibit will open continue through Monday, June 24.

CornerSTONE

CRUSH Curatorial presents its first show of the summer season, “CornerSTONE,” with works by Cati Bestard, Alina Tenser, and Almond Zigmund. The show runs through June 8.

Spring Into Collecting

Alex Ferrone Gallery in Cutchogue opens a new season of art with its fourth edition of the “Spring into Collecting” exhibit. Exhibiting artists include Patricia Beary, Karen Bell, Lucy Dewitt, Alex Ferrone, Richard Gardner, Ray Germann, Gerry Giliberti, Katherine Liepe-Levinson, Mike McLaughlin, Barbara Macklowe, Robert Mielenhausen, Jim Sabiston, Steven Schreiber, Mac Titmus, and Pamela Waldroup. The show runs through June 23.

Grenning Gallery

The Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor presents Carl Bretzke’s “Best in Show” and Jim Rennert’s “Business in Bronze.” The exhibits run through June 9.

Hills & Valleys

The Parrish Art Museum has selected Bridgehampton-based multimedia artist Candace Hill Montgomery as one of two participants in the 2019 Parrish Road Show, the museum’s creative off-site exhibition series featuring temporary projects by East End artists to connect creativity to everyday life. Recently, Hill Montgomery has focused her practice on weavings that reflect her life as well as current political/sociological issues.

Approximately 25 of the weavings will be featured in the exhibition “Hills & Valleys” at the Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum, through June 16.

In addition to this off-site exhibition, the Parrish Art Museum will feature works by both 2019 Road Show artists (Hill Montgomery and Laurie Lambrecht) in the museum, in Water Mill, through November 10.

Artists At Home

East Hampton Historical Society presents the photographic exhibition “Artists at Home: The Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios Program,” at Clinton Academy Museum. The show includes 50 images of artists in their studios. This exhibit will run through July 6, and is open to the public on select Fridays and Saturdays.

Sara Nightingale

Sara Nightingale Gallery in Sag Harbor presents Suzanne Unrein’s solo exhibit “Slip,” and the group exhibit “Until a Little Bird,” featuring the work of Francine Fleischer, Erica-Lynn Huberty, and Lucy Winton. Both exhibits will be on view through June 3.

Vanishing Act

Halsey McKay Gallery in East Hampton presents “Vanishing Act” with works by artists Colby Bird, David Kennedy Cutler, Fu & Rich, Kara Hamilton, Sheree Hovsepian, Denise Kupferschmidt, Virginia Lee Montgomery, Francis Picabia, Eli Ping, Brie Ruais, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, and Wilmer Wilson IV. Upstairs is Lauren Luloff’s “Small Landscapes.” The shows run through June 2.

Refuge

The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill presents “Thomas Joshua Cooper: Refuge,” the artist’s first solo exhibition in an American museum in nearly two decades. The show is on view until July.

Cooper’s images are made primarily along the coastal and inland waterways of the world. Refuge features photographs taken between 1998 to 2018 along the Eastern seaboard and the Hudson River, anchored by 21 images of seascapes and interior landscapes he made on the East End during his 2016 exploratory commission sponsored by the Lannan Foundation with the Parrish Art Museum.

East End Collected5

Artist and curator Paton Miller returns with “East End Collected5” and “EEC Jr.” at the Southampton Arts Center. The show runs through Sunday, June 9.

East End Collected5 reflects Miller’s vision of the East End region as an ideal environment for artists to create work. Through this exhibition, Miller highlights 32 artists. Artists include Casey Chalem Anderson, Michael Cardacino, Sylvia Channing, Jeremy Dennis, Madison Fender, Francine Fleischer, Lori Hawkins, Carol Hunt, Anna Jurinich, Christine Keefe, Suzanne LaFleur, Geralyne Lewandowski, John Margaritis, Alexis Martino, Lauren Matzen, Eric Meola, Oscar Molina, Joanlee Montefusco, Nika Nesgoda, Cindy Pease Roe, Jay Schneiderman, Arden Scott, Ty Stroudsburg, Trina Tozzi Michne, and Isabel Turban.

EEC Jr. artists include Harlan Beeton, Emily Esposito, Kyle McNamara, Cian O’Neill, Kai Parcher-Charles, Finn Pilaro, and J.B. Riffaud.

Parrish Perspectives

Parrish Perspectives at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill presents artists Renate Aller and Jean-Luc Mylayne. The show runs through July 28. The series features monumentally-scaled photographs drawn from the permanent collection that illuminate the intimate bond between subject and photographer. For more info, visit www.parrishart.org.
