Amagansett Station Dedication

There will be a dedication ceremony for a new roadside marker outside the Amagansett Life-Saving and Coast Guard Station on Saturday, May 25, at 10 AM.

The marker, which was funded by a grant from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, commemorates the interception of a group of four Nazi saboteurs by Coast Guard personnel at the station in June 1942. A plaque designating the station’s placement on the National Register of Historic Places, which happened in 2018, will also be installed.

Rogers Memorial Library

The Rogers Memorial Library will host a Game of Thrones trivia contest on Wednesday, May 29, at 5:30 PM.

The library will also host “The Golden Age of Hollywood,” a talk by John DiLeo, on May 30 at 5:30 PM. DiLeo, a film expert and author, will present images from his latest book, “Ten Movies at a Time: A 350-Film Journey Through Hollywood and America 1930-1970.”

In Bridgehampton

The Hampton Library will host a “Beach Walk” on May 29 at 4 PM, during which kids ages 7 to 12 can learn about different kinds of seashells, identify local plants and birds, and explore the tides, waves, and shapes at Ocean Road Beach. Visit www.hamptonlibrary.org for more information.

Shabbat On The Beach

The Jewish Center of the Hamptons will hold “Shabbat on the Beach” every Friday from May 24 through August 30 at 6 PM at Main Beach in East Hampton.

Lag B’Omer at the Beach

The Chabad of the Hamptons will hold “Lag B’Omer at the Beach” at Main Beach in East Hampton on Thursday, May 23, at 6 PM. The holiday will be celebrated with music, kosher deli sandwiches, a bonfire, and games. Visit www.jewishhamptons.com.

Westhampton Beach Library

The Westhampton Beach Free Library will host an event for children in kindergarten through third grade to decorate a special jar to give as a gift on Father’s Day on June 12 at 4 PM.

Children, teens, and tweens are also invited to participate in the library’s annual summer reading club, where participants can earn prizes by reading as much as they can. This year’s theme is “Universe of Stories.” Registration begins June 14 and the contest will end on August 15.

Longhouse Salon

The Longhouse Reserve’s Junior Council will host the fourth annual “Salon on the Lawn” on Saturday, May 25, from 5 to 7 PM.

The event, which is cohosted with Keyes Gallery in Sag Harbor, will feature an auction, live music, cocktails, and light bites. Tickets are $75 for non-members and $50 for members. A decorator’s ticket, which comes with a small ceramic piece created by Mary Jaffe, are $125 for non-members and $100 for members.

Hampton Bays Library

The Hampton Bays Library will host a talk on “Whaling on the East End of Long Island” on June 1 from 1 to 2 PM.

Rosemary McKinley, author of “Captain Henry Green: A Whaler,” will talk about what life was like for whalers on the East End through the lens of Captain Henry Green. Copies of her book will be available for sale and signing at the end of the presentation.

East Hampton Library

The East Hampton Library will host a “Water Safety and Hands Only CPR Training” with members of the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue on June 1 from 11 AM to 12:30 PM.

The library will also host the sex therapist Beatty Cohan with the presentation “Never Make a Mistake in Love Again” on June 1 from 1 to 2:30 PM.

Trail Hikes

The East Hampton Trails Preservation Society will host two concurrent hikes in Montauk on May 25 at 10 AM.

An Amsterdam Beach hike will be 2.5 miles and will begin at the trailhead across from Deep Hollow Ranch. Aggie Cindrich will lead the hike.

A Hither Hills hike will be 6 to 7 miles with plenty of water views. Participants have been asked to bring a snack and plenty of water. Hikers will meet at the Hither Hills West Overlook in Montauk. For more information, visit www.ehtps.org.
