Body Found On Southampton Beach

The calm of a sunset walk was shattered Wednesday, June 12, when an unidentified woman came upon a dead body at about 7:50 on a Shinnecock beach, Southampton Town police reported.

         She summoned help: Responding patrol officers arrived at the scene and contacted Southampton Town detectives.

         Police said the decedent is a male Hispanic, approximately 42 years of age. Detectives determined that he was not an apparent victim of suspicious activity. Suffolk County medical examiners responded and Southampton Town detectives are continuing the investigation into the cause and movements of the victim prior to being found on Wednesday evening.

         The victim’s name is being withheld at this time pending notification to next of kin.
