Crime Scene Investigation In Montauk
East Hampton Town Police are investigating what they have described as the discovery of an unresponsive person in Kirk Park in Montauk early Thursday, June 6.
Suffolk County Police and numerous detectives were on the scene, aiding in the investigation. The Suffolk County crime lab truck pulled into Kirk Park a little before 11 a.m. and a county police command truck was seen heading east.
Lieutenant John Clafin of the East Hampton Town Police spoke briefly to two reporters outside Kirk Park, which has been sealed off from the public. Clafin said he could not confirm rumors spreading around Montauk that police were investigating a murder and that the victim may have been beaten to death.
Clafin said police would be releasing information on the incident as soon as possible.
