Prom Dress Sale

The thrift shop of the Hampton Bays United Methodist Church was donated new prom dresses and is selling them for discounted prices through the month of June.

The shop, at 158 Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays, is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 to 3 PM and Saturdays from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Center for Jewish Life

The Center For Jewish Life in Sag Harbor will host “Summerfest,” an adult education program throughout the summer.

Adults and teens can enroll in classes like Stargazing, Flower Arranging, Ceramics, Harmonica, Israeli folk dancing, Kabbalah, Basic Judaism, the Joy of Movement, and more. For more information, visit www.cfjewishlife.com.

Learn About Allergies

The Hampton Library’s six-week Tai Chi class will return on Thursdays from June 6 to July 18 at 12:30 PM. There will not be class on July 4. The class is free, but registration is required.

The library will also host “The Scoop on Seasonal Allergies” with Dr. Erin McGintee from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital on June 10 at 6:30 PM.

Dr. McGintee will discuss allergy symptoms and proper treatment, as well as the peanut allergy and alpha-gal, a meat allergy that can be caused by a tick bite. Registration is required.

The library will also co-present with Hamptons Doc Fest “The Last Fix: An Addict’s Passage from Hell to Hope” on June 24 at 7 PM.

Judge Deborah Kooperstein and Jacqui Lofaro, the film’s director, will discuss the documentary about convicted drug offenders who opt for a tough and pioneering drug court on the East End rather than prison.

Bishop Weighs In At Library

The Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton will screen “Rise Up: Four Stories, Four Films” on Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8.

The library will show “The True Cost” on June 7 at 6 PM. On Saturday, June 8, the library will screen “Eighth Grade” at 11 AM, “Liyana” at 1 PM, and “Period. End of Sentence,” which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject), at 2:30 PM.

The library will also host former Congressman Tim Bishop, who will talk about current affairs on Monday, June 10, at 5:30 PM. Bishop will discuss important issues such as increased focus on the relative roles of the executive and legislative branches of the government. A question-and-answer period will follow.

Frederic Tuten will discuss his memoir “My Young Life” on Wednesday, June 12, at 12 PM. The novelist, art critic, short story writer, and essayist will talk about his life in the Bronx, desire to be a writer, and his coming of age in post-World War II New York.

Farmers Market Opens

The Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its seasonal farmers market at the Village Green on Saturday, June 8, at 9 AM.

Mayor Maria Moore, along with other chamber officers, will cut the ribbon. The farmer’s market, now more than 15 years old, will feature more than 60 vendors, including ones that feature organic food, home-baked desserts, soaps, cheeses, and more. The market will be open every Saturday through October from 9 AM to 1 PM.

SOFO Beach Walk

The South Fork Natural History Museum will host a beach walk in Noyac with Dr. Keith Serafy on Sunday, June 9, at 11 AM.

Serafy, a marine invertebrate zoologist, will lead the walk through the coastal habitats of Noyac and identify the plants and animals seen, how they are adapted to their environments, and which are edible.

The event is open for people of all ages. Reservations are required. It is free for SOFO members. For non-members, the cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages three to 12. For more information, visit www.sofo.org.

Gardening With Kids

The Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons’ monthly lecture will be “Gardening With Kids: Opening Eyes and Doors” with Karen Bussolini at the Bridgehampton Community House on Sunday, June 9, at 2 PM.

Bussolini, a painter, writer, and garden photographer, will show easy ways to encourage children to engage with gardening. A book signing and refreshments will follow the talk. The event is free for members and $10 for non-members.

Prior to the lecture, the alliance will also have the seed exchange program, in which attendees can bring donations of plant seed packets and receive another package for free, or purchase seed packages for $2.00.

Accabonac Protection Committee Forum

The Accabonac Protection Committee will present the public forum “Health of Accabonac Harbor” at Ashawagh Hall in Springs on Wednesday, June 12, from 6 to 8 PM.

Representatives of the East Hampton Department of Natural Resources and East Hampton Trustees will talk about past, ongoing, and future projects relating to Accabonac Harbor and its watershed.

Westhampton Free Library

The Westhampton Free Library will screen “But I’m a Cheerleader” and host a movie discussion for teens on the evolution of gender on June 14 at 6 PM. To register, visit www.westhamptonlibrary.net.

Southampton History Museum

The Southampton History Museum will open the Carriage House Thrift Shop and host the Whale of a Fair on June 15 from 11 AM to 4 PM.

The fair, which is free, will be an outdoor vendor fair on the Great Lawn of the Rogers Mansion. The proceeds will benefit the museum’s educational programs.

The museum will also host its 120th birthday party on June 15 from 2 to 3:30 PM with a free concert by The Long Island Chorus of Sweet Adelines and the Sag Harbor Community Bandon the lawn of the Rogers Mansion.
