Fisticuffs, Shattered Windows, Smashed Doors

A dispute between two men staying at a summer rental in Montauk ended with one of them in handcuffs, charged with criminal mischief as a felony.

According to the East Hampton Town police, the dispute occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 13, at 8 Big Reed Path off of East Lake Drive. Amar Patel, 35, of Greenlawn, was upset with Harman Dhamija. Dhamija had a 2018 Tesla parked in the driveway.

According to police, Patel threw “a cement cinderblock through the front and rear windshields,” and scratched the paint on both the passenger side and the driver side doors and quarter panels. Bail was set at $2000 during Patel’s arraignment July 14, and was posted.

Two brothers who police said were intoxicated got into a spirited brawl outside of John’s Drive-in early morning Monday, July 15. According to the police, John Cooleen, 25, and Brian Cooleen, 21 were engaged in a fight and ignored police orders to cease and desist. Police were finally able to separate the two, and placed them under arrest on charges of disorderly conduct, which is a violation.

They were brought in to be arraigned later that morning in front of East Hampton Town Justice Lisa Rana. Matthew D’Amato from the Legal Aid Society represented the two, and pointed out during John Cooleen’s arraignment that the parents of the fighting Cooleens were in the courtroom for the arraignments. “I’m sure his parents are thrilled,” Justice Rana said before releasing the two without bail.

A Manhattan man, Samuel Pinion, 27, is facing a felony charge of criminal mischief after being arrested early June 23. According to police, Pinion rammed his way through the front door at 21 Timber Lane. He told police he had been dropped off at the wrong house by a taxi driver. “I tried to call Uber, but I broke in instead,” he reportedly told police. He posted $500 bail and was released.
