They started the project last September — the Hampton Bays Beautification Association helped to replace the post office’s old driveway with rain gardens. “It is important to have ecosystems in the community — that you don’t just plop a garden somewhere, you try to make it sustainable and economically advantageous,” HBBA’s president Susan von Freddi Gassman said last year.
The gardens, now complete, are a way to bring sunshine on an otherwise cloudy day.
