A training mission for young Army Reserve soldiers assigned to men (and women), five 16-ton armored vehicles started from their base in Shoreham for a round trip exercise run to Montauk and back Monday, August 12. Staff Sargent Bellini explained that it helps the soldiers learn how to deal with different types of roads, beginning with Route 27. Before returning to base, they topped off their diesel fuel tanks at Empire Gas in Montauk, just in time to experience westward rush hour on the East End, as workers returned home.
