Bicyclist Killed In Montauk
East Hampton Town police arrested a Montauk woman for driving while intoxicated after a crash that fatally injured a bicyclist in Montauk the night of October 30.
Lisa Rooney, 30, was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Flamingo Avenue when her vehicle struck a man who was riding his bicycle northbound on Flamingo Avenue, near Falcon Place, at approximately 6:03 PM.
The bicyclist, John James Usma-Quintero, 28, of Montauk, was transported by Montauk Ambulance to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Rooney was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. She is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, October 31, at East Hampton Town Justice Court.
The investigation is ongoing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information on the crash to call East Hampton Town police at 631-537-7575. All calls will be kept confidential.
