On Sunday, October 6, the East Hampton Fire Department held two separate events — an ambulance open house in the morning, and a heavy rescue demonstration in the afternoon. Kids got to check out the equipment and trucks, try out using a fire extinguisher and the fire hoses, got fire hats and trucks, and prizes were awarded for the John M. Marshall Elementary School Fire Prevention Poster Contest.
The highly trained and specialized Heavy Rescue Team, along with the East Hampton Ambulance crew, demonstrated how they respond to a car accident, extricating the injured from the vehicle using specialized tools and equipment.
