2020 will be a big year for the League of Women Voters, the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage. The 19th Amendment, often called the “Susan B. Anthony Amendment,” was ratified on August 18, 1920, and certified by U.S. Secretary of State Bainbridge Colby on August 26, 1920. On the evening of November 18 at Hampton Library in Bridgehampton, Arlene Hinkemeyer, chairperson of the 100th Anniversary Committee of the Hamptons League of Women Voters, and other speakers presented the history of the LWV, discussed upcoming celebratory events, and shared special anniversary cupcakes.
