Dredge And Rebuild

Construction work in Hampton Bays continued last Friday, as the beach west of Shinnecock Inlet was widened using dredged sand from the bottom of Shinnecock Bay.

The November 8 work was part of a month-long project to protect and strengthen the beach following destruction from three October storms. When finished, 90,000 cubic yards of sand will have been deposited on the ocean-facing beach in front of the Shinnecock Commercial Fishing Dock.
