Southampton Officers Sworn In
According to police Chief Steven Skrynecki, among the new hires is a former New York City police officer, a Serbian, and a resident of the Shinnecock Indian Reservation.
The new officers are Asmir Brbutovic, Joseph Cappabianca, Kesi Goree, Joseph Marino, and Mateusz Wrobel.
“Protecting public safety is one of the most important responsibilities of the town,” Supervisor Jay Schneiderman said during the officers’ swearing-in ceremony. “We understand the risks you face and we are here to support you in every way we can.” Councilmen John Bouvier and Tommy John Schiavoni joined the supervisor at the ceremony.
The new hires, who have a starting salary of $60,911.96, will begin field training. They are replacing retiring officers.
