Westhampton Wins Quarterfinal Game
There’s nothing Jaden AlfanoStJohn can’t do.
The senior running back rushed for 330 yards and four touchdowns on 25 attempts, finished with five tackles, and caught two interceptions in Westhampton Beach’s 39-24 win over Hauppauge Friday.
His interception with 2:52 remaining sealed the November 8 win. Senior linebacker Shavar Coffey had 10 tackles, two sacks, and an interception. Junior quarterback Christian Capuano completed six of 10 attempts for 74 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Paul Boutin. Junior Jackson Hulse was perfect on his point-after attempts, and added three more on a 22-yard field goal during a 25-point second quarter.
The victory sends the Hurricanes (8-1) into the Division III semifinals, where the No. 2-seeded team will host No. 3 East Islip (7-2) November 15 at 6 PM. Westhampton outlasted East Islip 31-21 back on October 18. Should the Hurricanes win, they may get a change to avenge their only loss of the season, a 34-27 defeat at the hands of undefeated Sayville. The Golden Flashes (10-0) are facing No. 4 Kings Park November 16 at 1 PM.
