Adult Programs At Rogers Memorial Library

Richard Barons, senior curator at the East Hampton Historical Society, will be at the Rogers Memorial Library on Wednesday, December 4, at noon. He will discuss his book, “Behind the Privets: Classic Hamptons Houses,” which he has written with photographer Stanley Rumbough.

Kay Gardiner, co-founder of a popular daily online knitting magazine, will be at the library on Thursday, December 5, at 2:30 PM, to discuss knitting myths which she has encountered. Participants are invited to bring their knitting.

The library will offer an up-cycled evergreen trees craft on Saturday, December 7, at 10:15 AM. Participants will work with discarded books and recycle them into evergreen trees. Teen Programs At Rogers Memorial Library

Enjoy a Peppermint Spa Day on Thursday, December 5, from 4 to 5 PM, making different peppermint spa products.

Dungeons and Dragons with Harry Mikkelson happens on Saturdays, December 7 and 21, from 2 to 4 PM. Dice and character sheets will be provided. For those 17 to 35 years old. Bay Scallop Symposium

A Bay Scallop Symposium will be hosted in the Avram Theater of Stony Brook Southampton’s campus on Friday, December 6, beginning at 7:30 PM. It is part of the School of Marine and Atmospheric Science’s lecture series.

Stargazing In Bridgehampton

Stargazing will be held on Saturday, December 7, from 6 to 8 PM. Montauk Observatory astronomers will set up their telescopes under the dark skies of the South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton to give guided tours of the heavens to all who attend.

At 6 PM, you’ll learn about what you’ll be seeing — the moon, planets, nebulae, even the Andromeda Galaxy, then you’ll go outside to observe. Feel free to bring a blanket or a lawn chair, refreshments, to set up your own telescope or binoculars, or do astrophotography. Weather permitting. Southampton History Museum

“Hearthside Cheer: Designer Tree Auction,” will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 5 to 7 PM at the Southampton History Museum’s Rogers Mansion, at 17 Meeting House Lane. A silent auction bidding begins during the preview day, Friday, December 6, from 11 AM to 4 PM.

The historic Rogers Mansion will be decorated floor to ceiling for the holidays. Tabletop trees and wreaths decorated by select designers will be up for auction. EH Santa Parade, Windmill and Tree Lighting, Night Market

The East Hampton Santa Parade will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 PM, from the First Presbyterian Church to Hook Windmill. Set up starts at 1:30 PM. All organizations looking to enter a holiday float must register online before Thursday, December 5, by 5 PM at www.easthamptonchamber.org. No walk-on floats will be permitted in the parade to ensure a safe and organized community event.

The public will be able to vote for their favorite float. Online voting will be open on Saturday, December 7, between 1 and 7 PM. Winners will be announced in front of Eileen Fisher at 7:30 PM the same day. All votes can be cast via the East Hampton Chamber’s website.

Amaden Gay Agencies will sponsor the East Hampton Lighting of the Windmill, with festivities including holiday caroling and music, from 3:30 to 4:30 PM. The Maidstone Arms will have its annual tree lighting a 5 PM.

The East Hampton Holiday Night Market will be held from 4 to 8:30 PM on Newtown Lane and Main Street. During the same times, visit Eileen Fisher for a “Santa’s Village Experience.” Come get photos with Santa, send a card from Santa Station, have bites and sips, and see Santa’s “Equine” Reindeer Exhibit provided by Spirit’s Promise Rescue Petting Zoo.

Boat Builders’ Reception And Raffle Drawing

The East End Classic Boat Society’s annual holiday season reception and raffle boat drawing will be held at 2 PM on Saturday December 7 in the Hartjen-Richardson Community Boat Shop at 301 Bluff Road, Amagansett.

A lucky ticket holder will win a catspaw sailing dingy, with trailer, oars, and sail. The boat has been built according to a plan by Joel White based on a boat crafted by famed designer Nathanael Herreshoff is the 1th vintage-style vessel crafted by the club. Club members have crafted the 12-foot nine-inch sailboat with planks of eastern white cedar. The oak ribs for the frame were steamed and bent into place.

Cheese and liquid refreshments with be served and attendees can tour the boat shop and view the beginnings of next year’s raffle boat.

Amagansett Holiday Event

Join in a hamlet-wide holiday event on Saturday, December 7, in Amagansett. Meet Santa at the Amagansett Fire House at 4 PM, followed by the tree lighting and caroling. Pick up a copy of the Family Treasure Hunt and then head down Main Street where local shops will have special holiday deals and plenty of treats and surprises.

It’s A Wonderful Village

On Saturday, December 7, the Southampton Chamber of Commerce presents “It’s a Wonderful Village” at the Southampton Chamber building, 76 Main Street. There will be horse and buggy rides from 1 to 4 PM. Santa will be visiting from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. Cookies and hot chocolate will be provided by the Southampton Inn.

Amagansett Library Kids Programs

The Amagansett Library holds Lego Club on Thursdays at 3:30 PM. For kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. Stop by the library for open ended play with Legos.

“All About Beeswax” will be held on Saturday, December 7, at 11 AM. For children ages four through 10. Learn about honey bees and beeswax, and make special beeswax crafts, with master beekeeper Debbie Klughers.

Life-Saving Bazaar

The Amagansettt Life-Saving & Coast Guard Station at 160 Atlantic Avenue in Amagansett will hold a holiday bazaar on Sunday, December 8, from noon until 4 PM. Local artists and artisans will be there with their wares, along with seasonal refreshments. Visit www.amagansettlss.org.

SIS Holiday Party

The Springs Improvement Society will hold its annual Holiday Party from 3 to 5:30 PM on Sunday, December 8, at Ashawagh Hall in Springs. The event, which is free and open to all, will feature music, free cider and hot chocolate, along with cookie decorating for the kids. Santa will be there and the Christmas tree on the Green will be lit to celebrate the beginning of the season. “Lights of Love” can be purchased in the names of loved ones for $5 per light, with proceeds going towards the SIS Scholarship Fund. EH Chamber Holiday Party & Charity Drive

The Baker House 1650 and the East Hampton Chamber of Commerce will host the annual holiday party and charity drive on Wednesday, December 11, from 5 to 7 PM at the inn, located at 181 Main Street in East Hampton. The chamber asks that people to bring non-perishable canned items, which will be donated to local food pantries.

Complimentary passed hors d’oeuvres and wine will be available. There’ll be updates on all the happenings in December and the new year, including details on the 27th Annual East Hampton Annual B&B, Inn, Restaurant and Attraction Holiday Tour on December 14. Admission is free for members or future members and $15 for non-members.
