Project MOST Workshops

Project Most will be offering free workshops including mosaics, printmaking, and Afro-Caribbean dance on Thursday, January 30 from 4 to 6 PM and on Sunday, February 2 from 1 to 3 PM. Keith Leaf will demonstrate stilt walking and other circus arts, and Anita Boyer will be demonstrating the basics of tap dance. The Popsicles will also be performing and will play songs for children of all ages. Amagansett Free Library

The Amagansett Library is offering embroidery classes to 5th to 8th graders on Saturday, February 1 at 2 PM. Beginners and those with experience are invited to join. Materials are limited so please register to reserve your spot.

East Hampton Trail Hikes

The East Hampton Trails Preservations Society invites the public for a hike as it heads east on a serpentine trail toward a beautiful scenic view of Gardiner’s Bay, and ends at the Cedar Point Lighthouse. The hike is on Saturday, February 1 at 10 AM. Meet at the Cedar Point County Park Office.

Explore the blue, green, and brown trails of Big Reed Pond on Saturday, February 8 at 10 AM.  Beautiful water views, wooden bridges, and an interesting glacial erratic are all located in this hidden gem. Salamanders And Owls

Take a walk along the undeveloped barrier beach area at Shinnecock to birdwatch and seek out the wintering snowy owls and short-eared owls. Join Frank Quevedo on one of SOFO’s most popular birding walks. Bring binoculars or a spotting scope and a bird field guide. This walk is for adults and teens, although children over the age of 10 may attend. The birding walk will be held on Saturday, February 1 at 10 AM.

Meet the South Fork Natural History Museum’s salamanders and learn more about their fascinating life history and other salamanders as well. Children six years and older will learn about the preferred habitat and identifiable characteristics of these native species on Saturday, February 1 at 10:30 AM.

Contra Dance

The Long Island Traditional Music Association will be sponsoring traditional New England contra dances at the Water Mill Community House on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 7:45 to 10:30 PM. The class will be taught by the caller Jacob LeGRone with live Celtic music by the band Dance All Night. Great family fun. Candlelight Tour Of Rogers Mansion

Take a self-guided tour of a candlelit Rogers Mansion on Saturday, February 1 from 4 to 6 PM. Tour the 20-room home as it was during the Gilded Age. The exhibit “High Style in the Gilded Age: Southampton 1870-1930” will also be on display showing ballgowns worn by Southampton women along with their stories from that era. Searching For Seals

Join the Group for the East End and the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society biologists for a seal cruise around Shinnecock Bay. This family fun cruise is on Saturday, February 8 and Sunday February 9 from 1 to 3 PM. Dress warmly as this is an open weather cruise. CMEE Danceability

The Children’s Museum of the East End announced the debut of Danceability, an adaptive dance class for children with special needs. The class is designed and taught by Adam and Gail Baranello of A&G Dance Company. The six-week program celebrates movement through creative exercises, engaging activities, and lively, expressive music. Danceability runs every Tuesday through February 25 from 4 to 4:45 PM.
