‘Gay Like Me’

Author Richie Jackson will engage in conversation with CNN’s Don Lemon on Saturday, February 15, at 4 PM at BookHampton in East Hampton.

Jackson, an award-winning Broadway, TV, and film producer, reflects on his own experiences as a gay man in America in his book “Gay Like Me,” which serves as a love letter to his son, who came out when he was 15.

“My son is kind, responsible, and hardworking. He is ready for college. He is not ready to be a gay man living in America,” stated the author.

The book reflects on the progress as well as setbacks of the LGBTQ community over the past half-century. It celebrates parenting and gay identity, and serves as a powerful warning for his son. It’s a message that resonates with readers, including gay men, around the world.

Jackson most recently produced the Tony Award-nominated Harvey Fierstein’s “Torch Song” on Broadway. He was executive producer on Showtime’s “Nurse Jackie” and co-executive produced the film “Shortbus,” directed by John Cameron Mitchell.
