Pierson Boys Undefeated In League VIII

With a 58-47 win over Smithtown Christian February 5, the Pierson boys basketball team finished the season undefeated in League VIII.

The Whalers (14-6 overall, 12-0 in league play) earn the No. 1 seed and will compete against No. 2 Southold at East Hampton High School Friday, February 14, for the Suffolk County Class C title. Opening tipoff is scheduled for 7 PM.

Sophomore Wilson Bennett led the way last Wednesday with a game-high 22 points, securing 20 of those off field goals. Senior Henry Brooks added 17, 12 points off three-pointers, Cecil Munshin scored eight points, and Charlie Culver, four.

If Pierson tops Southold, the Whalers will play in the C/D qualifier at Centereach High School Wednesday, February 19, against the Class D winner. No. 1 Shelter Island and No. 2 Smithtown Christian also compete in that Friday game at East Hampton High School at 4:30 PM. The C/D game will begin at noon.
