The South Fork Natural History Museum and Nature Center held a class on Saturday, February 1, to discuss the many types of salamanders that live on Long Island. Open to nature enthusiasts of all ages, SOFO’s environmental educator Sarah Bailey entertained the crowd with a show-and-tell of the various salamanders providing interesting facts about each species. North America is home to the greatest diversity of salamander species in the world.
