Tries To Run Over Ex, Police Charge
Riverhead police said a local man tried to run over his ex-girlfriend on Tuesday August 14.
The incident occurred after a public argument on Doctors Path around 5 PM. The woman, characterized as a victim, said her ex-boyfriend had driven away with her 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse. When she attempted to get the car back, he allegedly tried to run her over, she told police.
Cesar Zavala-Vega, 21, the ex-boyfriend, was arrested on Doctors Path in Riverhead later that night for criminal contempt and reckless endangerment. Police said further investigation revealed the woman has an active order of protection against Zavala-Vega. He was later arrested and charged with two counts of criminal contempt, felonies, and reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.
Counterfeit Bills
Police are searching for an individual who allegedly used three counterfeit bills to purchase clothing from Ralph Lauren inside the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead on February 12. An unknown individual used three fake $100 bills to purchase $240.03 worth of assorted men’s clothing. The subject then fled in an unknown direction.
The incident was captured on video surveillance footage, reports said. The subject was described as a heavyset black female wearing a black Polo parka with fur around the hood, black spandex pants, and knee-high boots.
A suspect has not been found, but would be charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
