East Hampton Beach Parking Regulations
It sure does seem like summer in East Hampton, at least on the beaches.
The town issued emergency regulations on Wednesday, April 22, designed to limit parking and beach traffic to permit-holders.
Town officials acknowledged that even during the coronavirus pandemic visitors are flocking to beaches and parklands in the town. There was a surge of traffic over the weekend the town acknowledges caught law enforcement personnel by surprise.
“Even now, early in the season, the town is seeing an influx of people visiting our outdoor beaches and parklands. It remains critical, however, to stay at home as much as possible and to practice social distancing, in order to suppress the spread of coronavirus,” said East Hampton Town Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc. “We are not encouraging visitors to East Hampton at this time, and will be enacting parking or other regulations as needed.”
Resident-only and permit-only parking restrictions throughout town will be strictly enforced. Additionally, as of today the town is suspending the sale of nonresident parking, beach driving, and launch ramp permits. Permits that have already been issued will remain in effect until their expiration dates, and those expiration dates will not be extended, as is being done at present for other town permits.
