Crash Leads To 18 Drug Charges In Montauk
A Queens man driving under the influence with multiple drugs in the car was arrested after a crash in Montauk in the early morning hours on Friday, according to East Hampton Town police.
Raphael Delacruz, 25, of Sunnyside was behind the wheel of a 2004 BMW when he drove off Montauk Highway and into a wooded area, near North Surfside Avenue, just after 1 AM, police said.
Responding officers suspected he was under the influence of drugs. A search revealed he had “a large quantity of controlled substances,” according to a press release.
Police said he was in possession of cocaine, LSD, psilocybin “mushrooms,” ketamine, ecstasy, MDMA, Xanax, Adderall, OxyContin, and marijuana. Scales and packaging materials were also allegedly found.
Delacruz was charged with 18 felony and misdemeanor drug related charges, as well as one felony count of driving while ability impaired by drugs due to a previous conviction.
