Armed Robber Threatened Clerk With Knife in Riverhead
Riverhead Town police are asking for the public’s help after an early morning armed robbery at the Stop and Go Mini-Mart in Riverhead Monday.
A man police described as being either “a black male or dark skin Hispanic male, speaking only Spanish and wearing a black baseball type hat with white writing,” and wearing a “plastic bag/mask over his face,” entered the store on West Main Street armed with a knife at 4 a.m. He allegedly threatened the clerk behind the counter and made off with the money from the cash register.
The clerk did not see which way the man ran when he left the store. The police immediately searched the area but failed to locate the robber.
In addition to the black baseball cap, the man was described as wearing a “black t-shirt, black shorts and tan or beige shoes.”
Anyone who might have information about this incident is asked to contact police at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential.
Last week, a burglar broke into a store on East Main Street in Riverhead, while it was closed, and stole Lotto tickets and cigarettes.
