Riverhead Man Dies in Wading River Crash
A 69-year-old man died in a three-car crash on Route 25A in Wading River on Sunday afternoon, Riverhead Town police said.
A 2016 Mazda sedan, being operated by at 69-year-old Riverhead man, was traveling east when he crossed over into the westbound lane near the King Kullen at 6233 Route 25A and side-swiped a 2015, Chevrolet minivan that was traveling west and being driven by a 49-year-old female from Miller Place. After striking the minivan, the Mazda then struck a 2020 BMW sedan being operated by a 45-year-old male from Tuckahoe, who was also traveling west on Route 25A.
Police were called at 2:25 p.m.
The driver of the Mazda was transported to the Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where he died from his injuries, according to police. His name was not immediately released.
“Speed did not appear to be a factor in this matter,” police said.
