After live meetings restarted in the Town of Riverhead, officials reversed course and allowed audience members to participate in public hearings using Zoom.
Town and village boards had largely ceased using Zoom for their meetings after the governor recently lifted the coronavirus restrictions that were intended to limit gatherings and curb the spread of COVID-19. But some urged Riverhead to allow virtual participation to continue.
The Town of Southold has continued with online participation, but the Town of Southampton and the Town of Shelter Island have not. The Town of East Hampton allows callers to dial in to its meetings and ask questions over the phone.
