Hamptons Nightlife Doesn't End on Labor Day
The Hamptons summer season may have ended, but the thrilling nightlife scene is far from over. Keep the party going at these epic East End nightclubs, performance venues and other spots that are best experienced after dark.
Dream in Hampton Bays was all the rage this summer, as evidenced by the weekly videos on social media showing the dance floor packed with shaking hips and pumping fists. In addition to the stylish interior bathed in a neon glow where the headline DJs perform, the club also features an outdoor patio with its own DJ, offering guests the choice of which space’s vibe best suits their dancing needs on a given night. If you’re looking for a way to spice up your Wednesday nights, Dream is the place to be. 17 Canal Road, Hampton Bays. 631-728-0767, dreamhamptonsny.com
Ask anyone what the most historic performance venue in the Hamptons is, they’ll likely direct you to The Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, which has been inviting international and local performers to its stage since 1987. Grab a drink at the bar, preferably a Talkhouse Encore, and get ready to jam on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. on select dates) and 10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for shows this weekend through Thursday, December 9. 161 Main Street, Amagansett. 631-267-3117, stephentalkhouse.com
While Southampton Social Club doesn’t stay open year-round, fans of the village favorite can at least party into the fall. Reservations are available now for four nights of libations, stellar food and music spun by New York’s hottest DJs. The September 17 and 18 parties feature DJ Joey Silk and DJ Martial Simon, respectively, while the parties on September 24 and 25 showcase the talents of DJ Loki and DJ Drazen, also respectively. Inspiring the Rolling Stones song of the same name, Memory Motel in Montauk is a local mainstay with a rugged dive bar charm. The bar just announced that it will officially be open year-round, with its first big off-season event planned for Columbus Day Saturday with Sophisticated Gents and classy 1950s-60s attire. 692 Montauk Highway, Montauk. 631-668-2702, instagram.com/thememorymotel
Great food and great music make for a wonderful night at North Sea Tavern. Open until 2 a.m., the bar’s frequent live performances and karaoke nights often get announced the day of, so keep an eye on @nstavern on Instagram for updates. 1271 North Sea Road, North Sea. 631-353-3322, northseatavern.com
The presence of Hunk-O-Mania in Southampton may come as a shock to many, as the general consensus seems to be that New York strip clubs are found exclusively in and around the city. Clearly, that isn’t completely true, and that’s incredible news for the club’s primary demographic: East End bachelorettes, 21st birthday girls and women looking for their very own Magic Mike experience. Hunk-O-Mania shows take place on Fridays and Saturdays from 9–11 p.m. and if male dancers aren’t your cup of tea, you can spill the tea at the Diva Royale Drag Queen Dinner every Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Get up close and personal with the drag embodiments of divas such as Dolly Parton, Madonna, Liza Minelli and Celia Cruz. 125 Tuckahoe Lane, Southampton. hunkomanianyc.com, dragqueenshow.com
A 7:30 or 8 p.m. concert may not scream “late night,” but we’d be remiss if we didn’t include The Suffolk Theater, the biggest entertainment venue on the North Fork. What makes this place so special, in addition to the great acts like John Kay of Steppenwolf on September 19 and Rob Schneider on October 17, is that most shows include a full restaurant and bar experience. Dinner and a show never felt as good as it does at this Riverhead gem. 118 East Main Street, Riverhead. 631-727-4343, suffolktheater.com
Looking ahead to next year
Unfortunately, not every hot Hamptons nightclub or venue stays open past Labor Day. Next year, be sure to keep an eye out for the re-openings of Beach Bar and Boardy Barn in Hampton Bays, Mars in East Hampton, AM Southampton in Southampton and new 2022 pop-ups.
