The community rallied together to celebrate the 10th-anniversary of the bay’s oyster restoration efforts. With an estimated 700,000 oysters planted in the bay this year, the progress made by the dedicated team was truly commendable. The staff unearthed several spat-sized oysters growing on the plastic mesh of the oyster bags, suggesting a mass population of adult oysters took up residency in the sanctuary.
With this clear sign that the oysters were beginning to seed themselves, it made for a remarkable discovery and a significant milestone in the restoration project. To celebrate these achievements, the “Save the Bay” Fundraiser invited its community to join in the festivities. With live music, delicious bites, vodka and tequila bars, and the very on-brand raw bar at the disposal of the attendees, the affair was a joyous one. The event was a testament to the dedication poured into the bay’s restoration.
