The legacy of Edith “Edie” Windsor, an influential advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, was immortalized through the Edith Windsor Heart Project.

The heartfelt tribute composed itself of 220 interlocking hearts, each bearing a personalized engraving. This platform not only served as a memorial but also provided a sacred space for conducting civil marriage ceremonies.

The funds raised with each heart sold from this profound initiative was dedicated to the construction and maintenance of the Edith Windsor Heart itself. The project succeeded in its mission to gain additional proceeds to support Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Edie Windsor Healthcare Center in Hampton Bays.

In honoring Windsor’s tireless efforts and passion for equality, the remarkable endeavor not only left an indelible mark on the community but also ensured the provision of vital healthcare services to those in need.
