Cocktail Recipe: Fiery 'Cinderella's Chariot' Is Halloween in a Martini Glass
This cocktail is fired up for the season.
The Cinderella’s Chariot, from the creative minds at Cove Hollow Tavern in Wainscott, is very much a magical, autumn-ready adult treat for spooky season replete with flaming citrus hull.
The magic, however, comes from the inclusion of shrub, a traditional 17th and 18th century drink made with fruit juice, vinegar, and sparkling water. Cove Hollow Tavern uses apple cider vinegar and pumpkin in those roles instead, providing acid and lift, while pumpkin remains the predominant flavor.
An original CHT joint, Cinderella’s Chariot is the creation of head bartender Elijah Levine.
“We wanted to create something festive and seasonal. The drink was originally without the fire, but we wanted it to feel warm without actually physically heating the cocktail. So, we lit it on fire!” said Matthew McCarthy. “The transformation in the drink reminded us of the transformation the pumpkin undergoes in Cinderella, and the drink was done after that!”
While you could probably try this at home, save yourself the chance of setting off the fire alarm and head to Cove Hollow Tavern for this taste of Halloween in a Martini glass.
