LongHouse Reserve marked its biannual Landscape Luncheon by honoring horticulturalist and historian Abra Lee. Held at the Longhouse Reserve’s “Fly’s Eye Dome” installation by Buckminster Fuller, Director Carrie Rebora Barratt presented the award to Lee, praising her research that illuminates the often-overlooked stories of triumphant women of color.
Sharing the stage was Richard Smith from the New York Botanical Garden. The event explored the contributions of Black women across antebellum history to the contemporary era. The day commenced with Lee’s lecture, followed by a ceremony and luncheon.
