The Shelter Island Turkey Plunge took place for its 14th consecutive year as an annual Shelter Island tradition that marks the holiday weekend with a celebration of philanthropy and adrenaline. Organized by the Friends of the Shelter Island Public Library, the event attracted locals, all contributing to funds for the library.

T-shirts and caps designed by Peter Waldner also assisted in the charitable cause. The generosity of local sponsors, donors and more than 150 registered participants culminated in a fundraising total exceeding $18,000. The plunge encouraged the donning of vibrant costumes for the event.
